This privacy notice has been produced to help you understand why I, your driving instructor, require to obtain and store your personal information, how it might be used, who it might be shared with, and how long it might be kept. The notice will also remind you of the rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). Where the information is not necessary to deliver the services you require from me, it may be necessary for me to obtain your further consent to either collect such information or use it for other purposes than you legitimately expect.
The following is a list of the personal information I may collect and how it will be used:
I will need to keep written and digital records of all payments made, lesson appointments booked, and lessons delivered for the purpose of maintaining accurate accounting records as is legally required of me for 6 years. At this point, the account records and any supporting personal information will be disposed of in a secure manner. This information will be held in both my paper-based and digital diary, and my paper-based and digital records.
I will require your name, address, telephone number, date of birth, and driving license details for the purposes of providing the services you have paid for. I may need further details in order to book your driving test for you, should you wish for me to.
I will hold secure records of your ongoing progress for the duration that my services are required by you. This information may be kept for a period of up to 6 years.
I will hold records of any tests that are taken whilst you are a customer of mine. I will keep note of what faults are recorded, so that I may monitor my own personal development and performance.
With your further consent at the time, upon passing the driving test I may ask to take a photograph of you and obtain a written review for the purpose of promoting my business through my secure website, until such a time that you remove such consent. Please note that, if your image and/or review is used
on social media, I cannot prevent it from being shared or copied by others. I will, however, promptly delete all copies on all platforms under my control, if you so request.
Any personal information not disposed of as stated in this document will be securely destroyed following 6 years from being received unless you have consented to enable me to retain it for longer.
If you want to make a complaint about the way that I have processed or used your personal data, you can contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), as the statutory body in the UK which oversees data protection law.
